Q: What is the difference between a nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian?

A: As a Registered and Licensed Dietitian, you have to got through at least a 4 year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, complete a 1200 hour internship, and pass a National Registration Exam. I also completed 2 additional years of graduate school with a Master's of Science in Nutrition Science and wrote a thesis on a particular phytochemical and its role in osteoporosis. Many people claim to be "nutritionists" with a completion of an online workshop.

Q: How are your nutrition plans different from others?

A: Every nutrition plan I write is different. I do not give out "cookie cutter" nutrition plans to every client. After a one hour full nutrition and body fat assessment, I not only calculate how many calories you need to be consuming, but I also calculate your protein, carbohydrate and fat needs. These calculations are based on your activity level, your schedule, and how many meals you can consume on one day. Every meals is broken down by food groups and portion sizes, so there is no guess work for the client.

Q:  Will I have to do hours or cardio to lose fat?

A: Absolutely not. Unless you are training for a specific event such as a marathon or triathlon, you do not have to spend hours on cardio.

I focus on targeting several muscle groups with each workout session, while incorporating cardio intervals at the appropriate intensity. High intensity interval training is very effective, however may not be appropriate for everyone.

That is the beauty of using kettelbells- you can get a cardiovascular workout while building strength.

Q: Are your meal plans, paleo, fat free or carb free?

A: No. I do not believe in limiting myself to one food "trend" that is popular right now. However, I do believe in eating whole foods first, and using supplementation if needed. My food recommendations are also based on scientific research, and do not believe in using fat free or sugar free products, as they are filled with more chemicals.
